Potager Favourite

Such a beautiful coloured scabious. The flowers are just as beautiful before they fully flower and just as fascinating when they have flowered. They will help attract all kinds of beneficial insects especially butterflies into your gardens and plots. They are sweetly scented and make excellent cut flowers for arrangements and bouquets.

Sow seeds onto moist compost, covering very lightly from March onwards indoors in the warmth or on a heated mat. Can be sown in August for the following but will need protecting from a cold winter. Once germinated move out into a protected cold greenhouse. Transplant when large enough into individual pots and grow on. Acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions before planting out after the last frosts. Protect young plants from slug damage and deadhead regularly to prolong flowering.

They give masses of seeds that can be saved for your following year flowers.
