From the Worktable: Where I Walk

This is my potager infrastructure.

The paths aren’t an afterthought. They lead the eye, frame the beds, hold the whole thing in place. Without them it’s just planting without direction.

They’re also access. Where you step, where you stop, where you can actually work without thinking about it.

Underneath is where the weeds sit. Covered, held, dealt with over time.

Some are being lifted and moved. Bigger beds, narrower runs. Brick paths coming in to tighten it up, make the space work harder. It’s becoming something of an obsession. I lift, I place, it doesn’t quite fit, I repeat. They sink. I lift. The join matters.

I did mention, obsessive.

It doesn’t look like much yet. But this is where it starts to function.
